Silva’s Production Facilities Are Now Certified Organic

If you haven’t noticed, organic foods have significantly grown in popularity in the last two decades. With both certain grocery retailers specializing in organics (like Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s) and other grocers stocking more organic foods, the influence of a segment of consumers that are looking for organics is clear.

We’re proud to announce that Silva’s U.S. production facilities have been certified to process organic ingredients by Quality Assurance International (QAI), the leading USDA-accredited certifying agency. Because of this, we will be able to offer certified organic versions of some of our most popular ingredients.

The group of organic ingredients we will begin offering include:

  • red bell pepper, parsley, and carrots in various cut sizes and powder
  • additional vegetable powders of tomato, spinach, broccoli, kale, and pumpkin
  • white onion flakes and powder
  • garlic in minced, granules, and powder

We plan on expanding our organic ingredient offerings in the future, but we're excited about these as a great start. To be labeled “certified organic,” these ingredients will be subject to even higher standards than our already high processes. Foods that pass the QAI/USDA certification must be grown, harvested, and processed according to national standards that include restrictions on amounts and residues of pesticides, hormones, and antibiotics.
