For more than 35 years, Silva International, Inc. has been providing dehydrated vegetable, herb, and select fruit ingredients to the food industry. Through the years, we've maintained sole ownership of our company and built a team with a wealth of knowledge—five of our key positions have over 100 years of combined experience in the industry. Headquartered outside Chicago in Momence, Illinois, Silva International combines the bulk of our organization-processing, quality control, administrative, warehousing, shipping, sales force—in one location. Over our long and successful history, we've stayed focused on what we do best: producing ingredients using the highest possible standards. The History of Silva
Silva USA was established as a marketing arm for the Silva European Group of companies.
Silva International becomes a separate U.S. company, being incorporated in the state of Illinois.
A global sourcing program is established as a cooperative with Silva International and our affiliates in Europe.
A refocus of Silva International was conducted with a new business plan to build up our U.S. operation in Illinois, better servicing our customers within North America.
Silva International opens our first processing facility in Momence, Illinois.
A new warehouse and distribution center is completed, also in Momence.
Silva opens a joint venture farming and dehydration facility in Qingdao Haiwang, China.
An expansion to our warehouse/distribution center was created, building three additional, high-capacity production lines. Silva now is running with 12 processing lines at our facilities in Momence to enhance our capacity and add the latest in quality control technology.
A Quality Control office is established Qingdao City, China to effectively administer our quality control programs, monitoring our raw material, and field management.
Steam sterilization capabilities are added as a part of our production facility.
Expansion of our existing warehouse and distribution building, doubling the size of the building to meet current demands.
Three new multi-story production lines are added for additional capacity and efficiency.
Four more production lines are built, which includes more capacity for inspection and sorting—along with production of flakes, granules, and powders.
We continue to grow for our customers. A 180,000 sq ft warehouse building is constructed next to our existing building on Mechanic Street in Illinois. Both buildings will be connected and the new building also includes zero-ox fumigation capability.
